Innovative solution for Steel deck bridge. The continuous serious damage of the SMA layer on the Thang Long Bridge since the completion of massive repair works in 2011 have left both MOT and Hanoi City in need of a total and permanent solution to upgrade the bridge surface. After a series of proposals and years of study, it was decided to harden the steel deck with UHPC (ultra-high performance concrete) with steel fiber and cover it with 4 cm of PMB III with super-high performance. After careful evaluation of mix design in the lab and validation after trial paving, the high performance with wider range of temperature application of PMB PG76 Colflex of ADCo was selected for the project. An adapted solution to Hanoi’s intensive traffic Ring Road. Due to an increase in the number and load of containers and heavy cargo trucks from Hai Phong and the Northern Industrial zone of Hung Yen, Hai Duong, Bac Ninh, and Bac Giang, the 60/70 layer in this busiest ring road of Hanoi is faced with serious rutting. Hanoi City had decided to replace it completely with PMB asphalt. The second-longest BOT expressway in northern Vietnam. Ha Long - Van Don and extension of NH18 is the second-longest BOT expressway in the North.
